Meet Kate

Kate has over 15 years of experience as a clinician. She began her career working exclusively with adults living with severe and treatment resistant schizophrenia and psychosis, while volunteering nights in a pediatric emergency department and on school age inpatient units. She later worked for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where she developed an interest in advocacy and awareness around medical conditions and rare disease that continues today.

Her clinical experience includes serving as lead clinician for a pediatric and adolescent PHP and IOP and as liaison to inpatient psychiatric units, along with several years as a school-based clinician at the elementary level, supporting families across a wide range of needs including autism, genetic disorders, medical conditions, behavioral concerns, and ADHD. After continuing her education internationally, Kate founded The Beta Program in North Haven, Connecticut, to work with these families, including medically complex and metabolically influenced cases and those whose progress has stalled elsewhere, and to raise awareness of the connection between neuropsychiatric symptoms and their underlying contributors from a neuroscience perspective.

Kate participates in and supports organizations and efforts based in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, and contributes to conversations worldwide aimed at increasing awareness of PANS and PANDAS, neuroimmune and tickborne conditions, genetic disorders with neuropsychiatric and cognitive features, mental health in AYA oncology, and root cause mental health here in the United States.

Kate also holds a strong personal interest in martial arts and advocates for integrating martial arts into treatment for mental health, ADHD, trauma, and for people living with chronic pain or undergoing medical treatment, including adolescent and young adult cancer patients and survivors, and as an inclusive outlet for neurodivergent kids and teens. She currently serves on the State of Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control Special Populations, Community Risk Reduction and Community Response Subcommittee. She is an active advocate and partner in the AYA oncology community and a supporter of the Childhood Dementia Initiative.
